AeroText™ is a simple-to-download, easy-to-use, Android™ application that allows users to text and manage contacts through an Android phone using their PRC-Saltillo device and a Bluetooth connection. The AAC device user simply uses their vocabulary to generate a message that is then shared by the AeroText app.
**Due to the wide variety of Android phones and operating systems, PRC-Saltillo is unable to guarantee functionality with a specific phone or operating system version. We recommend testing your specific phone/ current operating system prior to relying on AeroText for texting through your AAC device.
Setting the AeroText App as your Default Messaging App
Before opening the AeroText application, go to Settings. Select Apps, then AeroText.
Select Permissions. You need to allow permissions for each of the settings listed: Contacts, Files, Music and audio, Nearby devices, Photos and videos, Notifications, Phone, and SMS.
If you are unable to allow permissions for the phone's SMS settings, go back to the Apps screen and select AeroText again. Select the three dots in the upper right corner and select “Allow Restricted Settings”.
Select SMS app. Select AeroText as the Default SMS app. Read warning. Select Ok.
AeroText is now installed and set as your default SMS text messaging application.
